Most Aras are of big size and need more space than other parrots due to their magnificent long tail. They are not recommended as apartment pets due to the noise levels when happy or upset. The smaller species of Aras, such as the Han’s or the Red-shoulderd Ara and the Severe are easier to keep. Nonetheless, they still emit loud vocal sounds.

:

Cage and perches are prerequisites. They require a variety of toys to captivate their attention. Larger cages for the larger birds and smaller cages for the smaller sized birds.
